Psychotherapy

I am an interactive, person centered therapist who specializes in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy.

My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client with a focus on IFS. With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing. I am a member of the American Counseling Association and enjoy attending various trainings to further my education and increase what I can offer to my clients

  • I am also trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) which can be used in the treatment of anxiety issues as well as PTSD or other forms of trauma. This therapy can also be very effective in dealing with the challenges and obstacles of daily life that can get in the way of our ability to function fully.

  • I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy together with my IFS work. I enjoy integrative therapy and find having these additional resources can be effective in developing treatment for each individual.

  • Starting in April, 2023!

Coaching

My training in Life Coaching and Spiritual Life Coaching has allowed me to offer to clients something other than therapy.

One of my undergrad degrees is in Religious Studies and for me, Spirituality has been central to my life. For many people, therapy is not what they are seeking, and what may be missing is a sense of life purpose, the “bigger picture”, belief in Source, God, Universe, etc. This does not mean organized religion, but rather it is about a Divine force that wants good things for us! Through my meditation, prayer, rituals, and especially my music, spirituality adds so much to the meaning and purpose of life. For those who may not necessarily be interested in spirituality, are not seeking therapy, but are looking for coaching, direction, increased skills and strategies, my trainings, groups, and one on one coaching sessions may be the perfect fit!

Fitness and Nutrition Education

I will be offering packages that include fitness and nutrition based information.

I was originally certified by AFAA in group fitness, personal training, and weight training in the 90s! I was recertified through ASFA (American Sports and Fitness Association) and will be offering some basic fitness and movement information and instruction. My focus will be fitness for middle aged women and will include some on line classes with the option of joining a group for an outdoor walk combined with breathwork (more on that in a bit) and stretching. For me, movement is the key ingredient to staying healthy and active. It doesn’t have to mean trips to the gym or running (although those are great too!) and can be as simple as walking, stretching, and resistance training even with just body weight. Although I am passionate about nutrition and have self studied an incredible amount of information, I also have colleagues I will consult with regarding nutritional information. I keep it simple so that it is doable! You can too!

Trauma Informed Breathwork

Breathwork is a wonderful adjunct to talk therapy and coaching.

I recently completed a six month training with Pause Breathwork and am now a certified Trauma Informed Breathwork Facilitator! My training included lecture, experiential, and applied technique experiences finishing with 34 hours of practicum where I led individuals and groups through breathwork sessions and facilitated breathwork workshops as well. It was such an amazing experience and the feedback from those on the receiving end was wonderful! I say that not to compliment myself (although when you are passionate about something it shows in what you offer) but rather to show that people are loving this work and benefiting a great deal from it. I am so excited to offer workshops, sessions for couples and of course, sessions for individuals. Integrative Sessions are shorter (30-40 minutes total) while Meditative Journey Sessions are a full 60 minutes! The combination of guided meditation, powerful music, and breathwork can be transformational in reducing anxiety and depression, releasing negative energy, limiting thoughts, and stored trauma.

Insurance and Pricing

The only services that are covered by insurance are actual therapy services.

Coaching, Spiritual work, Fitness and Nutrition work, and Breathwork (unless it is done as part of ongoing therapy) are all considered “out of pocket” services and will not be covered by insurance. At this time I am a Provider for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and Medicaid (HUSKY.) For those who are interested in therapy but have insurance that I am not a Provider for, you will need to pay for your session and then I will provide you with what we call a “Super Bill” which is a paid invoice that also contains all the information your insurance company will need to consider reimbursement (or partial reimbursement) for your therapy. It is important that you recognize Insurance companies are NOT always willing to reimburse for treatment with a therapist outside of their Network.
